Sundowns emerged the winner in their contest against a neighbor. But USM Alger failed to hold on all the way, against Wydad Casablanca, to achieve a similar result.
Sundowns 3 – 0 Petro Luanda
Is CAF now pulling out all stops to market the CAF Champions League? No. Broadcast has not been sorted. But, in collaboration with the main sponsor, the confederation picked Sundowns home match for social media hype:
The most important thing for the local fans was that their team won emphatically. The first goal was a South American affair as Sirino and Affonso combined to score in the 7th minute. Petro’s goalie, Elber should have saved the header to be quite honest.
He did not have a chance against Madisha’s header, though, in the 29th minute. Sundowns capped off the night with a typical team goal scored by Mkhulise in the 76th minute.

USM Alger 1-1 Wydad Casablanca
We got the prediction for this match absolutely right.
And we anticipated how things turned out. The hosts took the lead and Wydad had to chase for an equalizer.
Zouari scored in the 5th minute. He took advantage of poor clearance to shoot from just outside the box. Surprisingly, Wydad emerged stronger of the two as they looked to draw level. But they saved that goal until the very end when Aouk made it 1-1 in Blida.
