1. Venue of CAFCL Final
Which city do you want to host the CAF Champions League final? What we know so far is that 3 cities are in the running for the honour. And that, reportedly, the venue will be announced at the end of April. The final itself is on 29th May, 2020. The 3 venues that have submitted bids are:
- Mohammed V Stadium (Casablanca, Morocco)
- Rades Olympic Stadium (Tunis, Tunisia)
- Amahoro Stadium (Kigali, Rwanda)
CAF not only wants a good stadium. The organization will prefer the city with the best training and accomodation facilities plus Government assurances over organizing of the final.
2. Aboutrika criticizes football fans in Africa
Al Ahly legend, Mohammed Aboutrika had very mean things to say about football fans in Africa. Well, not all of them. Aboutrika was specifically targeting the ones who religiously follow European football. He said, “African people would fight because of European football. But European people don’t even care about African football.”
Pretty damning, don’t you think? The man was reacting to incidents of racial abuse in European football, as a beIN Sports pundit. Aboutrika was the main man in Al Ahly’s successful CAFCL team of the mid-2000s. Click to learn more about the great Ahly team.

3. Wydad change mind about sacking coach
Wydad Casablanca shocked all of us by announcing the sacking of, coach, Sebastien Desabre. The Frenchman had only been in charge for one month. But the Moroccan club has been less than impressed by league performance and results – despite topping the standings.
Anyway, Wydad quickly reversed the decision to get rid of Desabre. Club President, Said Naciri met the team and demanded improvements ahead of their CAFCL quarterfinal match against Etoile Sahel.

4. Meeting held to discuss Malango issue
We told you Ben Malango will be a hot issue ahead of Raja Casablanca v TP Mazembe. Club officials from the 2 camps met in Cairo this week to address the issues surrounding the Congolese striker. Raja Casablanca sought assurances that TP Mazembe will not try to prevent him from playing. The DR Congo team agreed to let FIFA sort the matter about Ben Malango’s disputed transfer to Raja. We expect that they also discussed the player’s safety when he plays at Mazembe Stadium in the 2nd leg.
