Wydad Casablanca got back to winning ways with their CAF Champions League quartefinal first leg victory over Etoile Sahel. They will be looking to finish the job in-front of a capacity crowd in Rades, this Saturday (7th Mar, 2020). Kick off time is 2100 CAT.

Etoile Sahel Probable XI: Bediri – Kechrida, Sellami, Ben Aziza, Ben Ouannes – Ben Amor, Baayou – Gonzalez, Chikhaoui, Ben Larbi – Coulibaly (4-2-3-1)

Wydad Casablanca Probable XI: Tagnaouti – Attiyat Allah, Comara, Asrir, Nahiri – Nakach, Jabrane – Aouk, El Karti, El Haddad – Kazadi (4-2-3-1)

What is at stake?

Etoile Sahel will be able to rely on fan support on the stands after fears of playing in an empty stadium, because of Corona virus, were quashed. But the Tunis team has not been convincing in home matches in the CAF Champions League this season. Are they even playing at home? The team is forced to play in Rades as they stadium in Sousse undergoes renovations.

They were badly dominated by Al Ahly and were only lucky to win. Their other major test at home saw them lose to Al Hilal. The reading is not too positive for them going up against Wydad Casablanca for this CAFCL decider match.

Wydad Casablanca have become the most consistently good team in the competition in recent years. They also brought in, former Etoile Sahel coach, Juan Garrido to share secrets about his former club. If that is not enough, Wydad Casablanca are also expecting massive support in Rades when their ultras fans make the short trip to Tunis.

What will the match be like?

Etoile Sahel will be without Konate and Boughattas in central defence. But they can still perform at a high level with Sellami and Ben Aziza as the defensive partnership. This is an extremely talented squad after all. Coach, Kais Zouaghi will have to show more courage by starting a more attacking line up than was in the first leg. The big difference will be Methnani surrendering his position to either Yassine Chikhaoui or Iheb Msakni.

The Tunisian side will also have to get the starting striker right. Soulaymane Coulibaly has been performing and getting the nod from the new coach but Karim Aribi is the team’s CAFCL top scorer.

Wydad Casablanca look settled in terms of starting XI as is the case with the other teams that secured CAF Champions League quartefinal first leg wins. The only thing anticipatory for Africa is whether Kasengu Kazadi will start this match. He has lost the shine he started his WAC career with.

Etoile Sahel 2-0 Wydad Casablanca

Etoile Sahel are clearly not comfortable having to play home matches in Rades. A packed stadium will go a long way to aid with that.
