1. Sundowns, Wydad compete for Fahad Bayo
Uganda striker, Fahad Bayo is on the radar of 2 CAFCL contenders in Sundowns and Wydad Casablanca. Bayo is 22 years old and presently plays for, Uganda Premier League winners, Viper SC. He has scored 12 goals in 22 league matches. In fact, Vipers SC spokesperson, Abdu Wasike revealed that the side has rejected a bid for Wydad. Things get worse for Wydad as the young striker has revealed his preference to join Sundowns, where another Ugandan features as an important part of the team.
Bayo said,”I’m ready for a move and my team is ready to release me. I’m ready for Mamelodi as it’s the best offer for me. If they are ready to sign me, I’m ready to join.”
2. Ferjani Sassi talks about his Zamalek future
Zamalek midfielder, Ferjani Sassi had to clarify his commitment to Zamalek this past week. He joined Zamalek in 2018 and his contract is set to expire in June 2021. Reportedly, clubs in the Gulf are interested in Sassi. But he mentioned his willingness to extend his stay at the White Knights as he is happy there. Sassi said, “I am very good at Zamalek. I have a good connection with the fans.” Nevertheless, he also revealed that contractual talks have not begun.

3. New design for Sousse Stadium?
Etoile Sahel remain on track to complete the renovation of Sousse Stadium before their Centenary year in 2025. The highlight of the project is expansion of the stadium from 28,000 to a 40,000 capacity. Images have surfaced of an updated render (as shown above) that ditches the stadium roof. Now, stadium roofs are expensive but this communication has not come officially from the club as of this writing.
4. Mustapha Tchaker Stadium to be renovated
Let’s keep things stadia. Mustapha Tchaker stadium, in Blida, is the home of the Algerian national team and the venue also hosts CAFCC and CAFCL matches regularly. It has also been picked as one of the venues for CHAN 2022. The stadium has a capacity of 35,000. It is set to undergo renovation including installation of an electronic ticketing system. Many Algerians are hoping the stadium can get further upgrade like roofing and expansion of its capacity.

5. New force in Moroccan football?
It seems that Chabab Mohammedia will emerge as a new top club in the Botola. The club’s President has revealed that he is on a mission to bring back home the Moroccan footballers currently playing in the Gulf and in Egypt. Mohammed Ounajem and Hamid Ahadad are reportedly the marquee signings who will officially kickstart the project. Watch this space.
